Our Story

In 2010 and frustrated with weak smelling, quick burning and sooty candles, founding husband & wife team Richard & Winnie set out finding the perfect eco-friendly candle.

One that not only had a long lasting room filling fragrance but also gave a long burn time whilst adding a touch of class to any home.

A Four Year Labour Of Love
After four years of trying hundreds of candles and disappointed with not being able to find that perfect combination they decided if they couldn’t find what they were looking for, they would create it themselves.

After a further year of research and experimentation, with hundreds of combinations of waxes, wicks & blended fragrances they managed to create just what they were looking for;

“The perfect candle for lovers of opulent long lasting unique fragrances made with a blend of natural and clean burning waxes.”

Soon friends and family, impressed with the sublime fragrances, style and longevity were asking for candles for themselves and as gifts of for others.

The Birth Of OTiUM
As a result, OTiUM (the art of rest, relaxation & contemplation) was born in 2015.

Each and every one of our candles is hand blended and poured by artisan chandlers who’s attention to detail is second to none.

We're not the cheapest brand in the market, nor are we the most expensive, so only educated consumers (and previous OTiUM customers) know what we're about.

Yes, we could sell more products by making candles that people are conditioned to buy (cheaper quicker burning paraffin wax candles), rather than the quality they could be buying for just a little more.

Our Passion
But being passionate about what we create and in for the long term our aim is to keep making an affordable hand poured quality product, as well as offering unrivalled customer care.

Then, when your current candle flickers no more, all we ask is that you think of us.

Our candles are a perfect addition to unwind on the sofa at the end of a busy day, enjoy while relaxing in a steamy warm bathtub or filling your home with beautiful opulent fragrances, while entertaining.

Growth & Development
In 2016 the team was enhanced with addition of Jason, whose eye for style and detail brought a fresh new look to the brand as well as the selection of vessels, logo and packaging.

Fast forward to 2018 where Jason, together with an investing partner who having been equally impressed by the quality of the candles, purchased OTiUM with the aim of growing and expanding the brand not only to artisan candle lovers across the UK but also internationally.
